Richard Armstrong Clapp


Richard Armstrong Clapp, 95, who with his family moved to Marysville in 1970, died Tuesday evening, August 2, 2022, at Memorial Hospital of Union County.

Born at Sheffield, Pennsylvania, he was raised and educated in Cleveland, Ohio, where he graduated with a law degree from Case Western Reserve University. He retired from practicing law in 1998. An Army veteran of WWII and the Korean War, he trained as a Japanese Interpreter by the US Army at Yale University, and served as a Counter Intelligence Corps “Special Agent” attached to General MacArthur’s headquarters. During the Korean War, he served in the Military Intelligence Organized Reserve.

In 1961, he married the former Beverly Yeoman of New Holland, Ohio, at the New Holland Methodist Church. After 58 years of marriage, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly. He is survived by four children, Richard, Brenda, Mark and Pamela; 10 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren. Private burial will take place at Oakdale Cemetery, with the Union County Honor Guard providing full military honors. Ingram Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
