Pioneers Keep The Pedal To The Metal


PLAIN CITY – Jonathan Alder kept rolling Tuesday night as the Pioneer varsity volleyball team won its seventh straight match, a three-set win over visiting London 27–25, 25–21 and 25–19 in Central Buckeye Conference play.

As is their habit, the Pioneers put forth a team effort with everybody getting in on the act against the Red Raiders. Ali Hayes led Jonathan Alder at the net with a team-high 14 kills. Emma Ishmael had 11 kills and 11 points, Lily Trbovich and Sarah Schimmoeller handed out 21 assists apiece and Paige Jestadt had 19 digs for the winners.

The Pioneer JV team lost in three sets to the Red Raiders 25-22, 25–18 and 25–21 while the JA freshman team improved 8-0 on the season with a straight-set win.

All three Pioneer volleyballs teams will again be in action today when Jonathan Alder hits the road to play at Delaware Hayes with the freshman match slated to start at 4:30 p.m.
