MILFORD CENTER – After sprinting to a 20-4 lead after the first quarter, Fairbanks coasted past visiting Marion Pleasant, 51-31, in a non-league girls varsity basketball game at Fairbanks High School Tuesday.
The Panthers, now 1-1 on the season, did not let the Spartans score in double figures in each of the first three quarters, holding the visitors to four, six and four points in the first three quarters, respectively.
Of the nine different players who scored at least two points for the Panthers, Ellie Carter paced the squad with 11 points. Carter also had seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Rebounding machine Macy Miller ended the game with 11 boards, while passing out six assists and picking up five steals and a block, ending the game with five points. Elaina Lahmers knocked down nine points for the Panthers and Carly Lehman connected on two 3-pointers and closed with eight points and seven rebounds.
Fairbanks now has a week off before traveling to Northeastern Wednesday next for the Panthers’ first Ohio Heritage Conference North Division game of the season, with the tipoff slated for 7:30 p.m. for the varsity contest.
