Marysville 56, Central Crossing 28
GROVE CITY – Nick Wever poured in 16 points and Marysville had nine different players score at least three points Tuesday as the Monarchs doubled up host Central Crossing, 56-28, in boys varsity basketball play.
As a team, the Monarchs hit more 3-point attempts (10) than it did from inside the arc (8) and scored another 10 points from the foul line.
Wever hit three of the Monarchs’ 3-pointers and Andrew Rabe and Chase Adkins each hit two and both finished with six points. Merrick Reynolds also connected on a 3-pointer and closed with seven points for Marysville.
The Marysville boys will hit the hardwood at home in Competition Gym against Olentangy Friday at 7:30 p.m.
GIRLS
Marysville 46, Central Crossing 12
MARYSVILLE – In what may be described as one of the most unusual of basketball box scores, Marysville and Central Crossing did not tally a single point in the second half of their girls varsity basketball game in Competition Gym Tuesday.
Which was OK with the Monarchs as they knocked down 18 baskets in the first two quarters in a 46-12 win over the Comets.
The Marysville defense turned it up a notch against Central Crossing, holding the Comets to just 14 attempts from the floor, of which they hit five, including one 3-pointer. The Monarchs did not allow the Comets even one offensive rebound in the game, picked up 14 steals and scored 22 points after forcing the Comets into 20 turnovers.
The Monarchs were just as lethal on offense as they connected on 18-of-32 attempts from the floor for a healthy 56 percent, while going an even 50 percent on 4-of-8 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc.
Leah Brown led the balanced Monarch attack, scoring a game-high nine points on 4-of-5 shooting, while Ava Krutowskis knocked down 3-of-4 attempts, including 2-of-3 from long distance, scoring eight points and snagging four rebounds. Addy Tweed and JoJo Eberhart each scored seven points in the win.
The Monarchs play again Friday at Olentangy High School with the tip slated for 7:30 p.m.
Just an FYI for the Monarch boys game against Central Crossing. It was Chase Adkins rather than his JV brother, Brennan who scored two 3-pointers!
Also did you know that 4 of the 5 Varsity senior boys have a brother playing on the JV team?
That would be a fun story for the DD!
Thank you for the clarification, we have updated the article. That would be a fun story, thank you!
