Monarch Netters Get Back In The Win Column


GAHANNA –The Marysville varsity boys tennis team posted at 3–2 win over Gahanna Lincoln Friday to improve to 8-6 on the year.

The Monarchs got all three of their wins in the singles matches, winning all three in straight sets. In the first singles, Gianni Russo downed Gahanna’s Rao, 6–2, 6–1, and in the second singles in Noah Burhanna blew past Witham 6–0, 6–1. Will Nuspl needed a first-set tiebreaker to get past Gahanna’s Hulba 7-6, 6–2, in the third singles.

In the first doubles, Marysville’s Mason Ice and Kyrell Stauffer fell to Lincoln’s Scott and Bradford 6-4, 6-2, and in the second doubles Lincoln’s team of Scott and Bradford needed a tiebreaker to defeat Marysville’s Zach Nusbaum and Brady Scott 3-6, 6-3, 1-0.

The Marysville boys will be back in action on the court today with a match at Upper Arlington at 4 p.m.
