eSports:
After a nearly year-long process, the ECHS eSports season is officially underway. John Brown and Doug Hughes (our beloved IT teachers) have taken on the responsibility of coaches for the team. The game of choice for this season is the newly released Overwatch 2, brought to players worldwide for free on October 4th, 2022. The team has 10 current members, two of which being team leaders Dorian Perdermo and Kyan Thomas. “It’s more of a small club than something legitimate,” Dorian said in a recent interview. “As the team captain, it’s fun interacting with the other schools and setting the matches up. We’re still just something new, though, so that’s about as far as my role goes.” 3 matches in with a lot of upsides, the team is looking forward to growing and establishing a stronger influence within the MECHS community.
BPA:
In January, students traveled to compete at the BPA Regional Competition, located at Ohio Northern University. Standing for Business Professionals of America, the BPA competition is an opportunity for brilliant young minds to get their feet wet in the world of business and technology. 22 students competed in total, with all competing teams receiving a certificate or plaque, a first for MECHS. 9 students have qualified to compete at the state level, which is the most students that have been taken. The state competition will take place on March 9th and 10th at the Columbus Convention Center. Here were our competing students:
