Dolores Marie Phillips Meeker


Dolores (Dort) Marie Phillips Meeker, age 88, passed away on Sept 12, 2023 at Dublin Methodist Hospital after a brief illness. Born July 13, 1935 to the late Robert and Marie Phillips, Dolores attended Canaan School graduating as Valedictorian in 1953.

Two years later she married her high school sweetheart, Edwin L (Teddy) Meeker. Teddy entered the service and while deployed, Dolores worked in banking. Upon his return, they settled in London Ohio for a short period then moved to their Middle Pike farm where they raised 2 children, Philip and Lisa. In 1974 they built their home on MV High Rd.

When Teddy became ill with Huntington’s Disease, Dolores cared for him in their home. After Teddy’s passing, she began volunteering for the Central Ohio Chapter of Huntington’s Disease Society of America. She was a board member for 15 years. During this time she chaired and co-chaired many committees. She passionately dedicated her time representing the HDSA at the OSU HD Clinic helping families navigate HD. She was awarded the HD Humanity Award in 2005 as a result of her dedication. Dolores also enjoyed volunteering as a poll worker, was an avid book reader, and a loyal fan of The OSU Buckeyes. She enjoyed yard sales with Jean and Stan, Broadway Theater, and her grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jack Phillips. As well as, Edwin (Teddy), Phil, and Lisa. She is survived by her Daughter in Law, Jody Meeker, Grandchildren-Laurel (Josh) Mock, Lindsay (Kyle) Morrison, Tyler Meeker. Great Grandchildren-Levi and Clara Mock and Rori Morrison. Sister in Law-Karen (Lee) Haberer, Brother in Law-Richard (Willy) Meeker, Nieces/Nephews- Leslie (Doug) Quinn, Kathy Phillips Jordan, John Phillips, Kraig and Kent Haberer. Great nephews TJ Hill, Kris and Jake Jordan, Will and Kendall Haberer and Jack Dills Special friends-Jean Carpenter Haycook, Lori Love, Angie Mounts and many other lifelong friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Huntingtons Disease Society of America.
