Cougars Corral Pioneers, JA Jumps Into Tourney Play Monday



SPRINGFIELD – The Jonathan Alder varsity softball volleyball team dropped its final regular season match of 2022 to host Kenton Ridge in four sets Thursday, 21–25, 25–16, 25–20 and 25–23.

The Pioneers finish their regular season with a 13-9 record for the season and a 7-3 mark in the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division.

Meredith Stroupe paced the Pioneers with a team-high 23 digs and had 10 points serving with three aces. Olivia Crabtree recorded 11 kills and 10 digs. Ali Hayes and Olivia Ishmael added seven and six kills, respectively, and Lily Trbovich passed out 17 assists and had nine digs the loss. Also for Jonathan Alder, Sarah Schimmoeller had 15 digs and three aces.

The Pioneers JV team also lost in three sets, 19-25, 25-13 and 25-22.

This ends the regular season for the Pioneers, but they jump into OHSAA volleyball tournament play Monday when Jonathan Alder hosts Columbus East in Plain City Monday in the opening round of the sectional tournament. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
